OpenAI has officially unveiled GPT-5, its latest and most advanced large language model. The company claims GPT-5 surpasses all previous models in reasoning, coding, mathematics, and multimodal understanding.
In a live demo, GPT-5 solved complex physics problems, wrote production-ready code from vague descriptions, and engaged in nuanced legal analysis — tasks that previously required human experts.
"This is a fundamental leap," said OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. "GPT-5 does not just predict text. It reasons step by step, checks its own work, and corrects itself in real time."
The model is expected to roll out to ChatGPT Plus users first, followed by API access within weeks. Developers are already testing its capabilities in healthcare, education, and financial analysis.
Critics, however, warn about the rapid pace of AI advancement and the need for stronger safety guardrails before widespread deployment.
